Co-founder and director Eddie has been at the forefront of music education in Sligo for the past 10 years, both as director of Sligo Jazz Project and Sligo School of Rock/Sligo Contemporary Music School. Eddie has achieved the highest Rockschool Grades in bass performance and has studied jazz with Mike Nielsen in Chatham Row (now DIT) Dublin. Eddie was awarded an Arts Council Bursary in 2006 to study jazz at the renowned Global Music Foundation’s Tuscany Summer School and Jazz Seminar in Certaldo, Italy. Through his work with Sligo Jazz Project, he has also studied with international jazz bassists and educators John Goldsby, Michael Manring, Rufus Reid and Eric Revis (USA) as well as Arnie Somogyi (UK) and Philip Donkin (UK). Eddie is director and administrator of Sligo Jazz Project, which has hosted annually since 2006, the biggest jazz education event ever held in Ireland, Sligo International Summer School and Jazz Festival. An experienced performer, Eddie is a member of Sligo-based groups NoCrows, Anything Goes and The Odd Couple. Eddie has performed and/or recorded with many well known Irish and international artists including Brian Kennedy, Kieran Goss, Frances Black, CafĂ© Orchestra, Louis Stewart, The Pale, Mike Nielsen, Richie Buckley, Sandro Gibellini, Cleveland Watkiss, David Lyttle, Soweto Kinch, Andreas Varady, Linley Hamilton, Katell Keineg, Nine Wassies from Bainne, Stocktons Wing, Those Nervous Animals and many more.
Eddie has also performed as Orchestra bassist in musical theatre shows such as Hairspray, Guys and Dolls, Bugsy Malone, Hot Mikado, Godspell and Honk. Photo by Laura Hunt |
